Baked Tuna Balls

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 (6 1/2 ounce) can tuna, drained
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup fine dry breadcrumbs (enough to hold the balls together) or 1/4 cup soft breadcrumbs (enough to hold the balls together)
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise (hellman's is best)
  • 2 -3 tablespoons chopped onions or 2 -3 tablespoons green onions, if desired
  • 2 -3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or 1 -2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 2 -3 tablespoons chopped almonds
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning, to taste
  • 1/2 cup crushed corn flakes (for coating)
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • seasoning salt (i use seasoning salt for this) or regular salt, to taste (i use seasoning salt for this)
  • black pepper, to taste (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 set oven to 375 degrees.
  • 2 prepare a greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan, or any size to fit the tuna balls.
  • 3 in a bowl, combine the tuna, egg, breadcrumbs, mayo, onion, parsley, almonds, mustard, poultry seasoning, salt, pepper and fresh garlic, or garlic powder (if using), do not add the crushed corn flakes cereal; combine well.
  • 4 shape into 40 balls (for cocktail size) or larger balls, any size you desire.
  • 5 roll completely and evenly in the crushed corn flakes cereal to coat well.
  • 6 dip the coated balls completely in melted butter.
  • 7 place on a baking sheet/pan.
  • 8 bake for 10 minutes (for the cocktail size), and 20-25 minutes (depending on how large you make the balls) for the larger size, don't overbake, these do not take long to to get done.
